Renting out your principal residence in Beaconsfield: allowed in some zones only

Beaconsfield places the principal residence establishment in the Accommodation Services class (c5), allowed only where the specifications grid permits it. By-law 720-126 (2023) permitted class c5 in zones H119, C120, C208, H231, H235, C309, H315, H343 and H344, and 45 separate by-laws (720-127-1 to 720-127-45, approved by qualified voters on June 6, 2023) add a specifically prohibited use in 45 residential zones. Where it is permitted, the principal residence establishment must be in a detached single-family house, one c5 use per lot, no more than 8 people or two families, 1 parking space per 2 bedrooms, an opaque fence or hedge in the rear yard, no recreational vehicles or tents, and no signage except the official sign; in zone H231, no more than 3 buildings and 200 m between two establishments.

Buying to rent year-round in Beaconsfield: only in some zones

A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.

The tourist residence belongs to the same class c5 (general tourist accommodation establishment). It is possible only in zones whose grid allows class c5, including zones H119, C120, C208, H231, H235, C309, H315, H343 and H344 opened by by-law 720-126; each zone's grid may limit the c5 uses permitted.
