Airbnb · Candiac · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Candiac, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
We found no municipal restriction on renting out a principal residence in Candiac; no published rule places the tourist residence, the unit bought to be rented year-round. To buy, count on $866,000 for a house and $476,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). The city publishes little on the subject: have the rule for the zone of the address confirmed before any offer. Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

We found no restriction adopted by the city on renting out a principal residence. The consolidation of zoning by-law 5000 as of March 8, 2024 contains no provision on the principal residence establishment or on short-term rentals; no municipal page or press article on the subject was found.
By default, Quebec law prevents a municipal by-law from prohibiting the rental of a principal residence unless it was adopted under the adapted referendum procedure (s. 23). Before counting on it, have the zone of the address confirmed by the planning department: it issues the zoning compliance document required for registration.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
We found no published municipal rule placing the tourist residence. The consolidation of zoning by-law 5000 does not name the tourist residence use: the accommodation category lists only the inn or B&B (class C-2) and the hotel and motel (non-exhaustive list).
Without a zone that allows it, the city cannot issue the zoning compliance document, and without that document there is no registration. That is the first question to ask the planning department, address in hand.

We found no municipal restriction for your principal residence, and Quebec law protects it by default. For a unit bought to be rented year-round, no published rule places it: ask the planning department.
We found no municipal permit specific to short-term rental. In every case, provincial registration ($54 or $156 a year) and the municipal zoning compliance document are mandatory.
