Airbnb · Drummondville · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Drummondville, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
We found no municipal restriction on renting out a principal residence in Drummondville; buying a unit to rent it on Airbnb year-round (tourist residence) is possible only in specific zones. To buy, count on $429,900 for a house and $289,500 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). The city publishes little on the subject: have the rule for the zone of the address confirmed before any offer. Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

We found no restriction adopted by the city on renting out a principal residence. By-law RV23-5469 (in force on June 21, 2023) added to zoning by-law 4300 the definition of « établissement de résidence principale » (principal residence establishment: accommodation for 31 days or less in the principal residence of the natural person who operates it, to a single group at a time, without meals). No municipal rule on zones, periods or number of nights for this rental was found in the chapters of the zoning by-law in force; check with the Urban Planning Department before any project.
By default, Quebec law prevents a municipal by-law from prohibiting the rental of a principal residence unless it was adopted under the adapted referendum procedure (s. 23). Before counting on it, have the zone of the address confirmed by the planning department: it issues the zoning compliance document required for registration.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
In zoning by-law 4300, the « résidence de tourisme » (tourist residence, code 5833.3: furnished apartments, houses or cottages with a kitchenette, rented for 31 days or less) is part of use class C-4 (light arterial commercial); it is therefore permitted only in zones where the grid authorizes class C-4. In rural zone R-9405, only one main building may host this use.
