Renting out your principal residence in Magog: allowed in some zones only

Rental of one's principal residence for less than 31 days is prohibited in 492 zones (almost the entire territory); it remains permitted only in zones where tourist accommodation was already allowed (downtown, Club Azur, the area around Parc national du Mont-Orford). The January 2023 registers did not reach the referendum threshold in any zone.

Buying to rent year-round in Magog: only in some zones

A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.

Tourist accommodation is allowed only in certain zones (the City's interactive map). The press names downtown, Club Azur and the area around Parc national du Mont-Orford. In 2023, a draft aimed to cap tourist residence units at 100 on rue Principale Ouest (between rue du Quai and rue Sherbrooke) and to prohibit tourist accommodation in a building occupied by at least one dwelling as of May 3, 2021.
