To buy, count on $395,000 for a house and $284,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

A principal residence establishment may be operated anywhere in the territory of Rimouski, by a natural person in their principal residence (a legal person cannot operate a principal residence establishment). The operator must register in the municipal register of respondents, designate a respondent who can be reached at all times and who can travel if the Sûreté du Québec contacts them, and obtain a permit online.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
Tourist residences may only be located in certain sectors identified in the Zoning By-law: they belong to the accommodation commerce class (C4) and are permitted only where the use grid authorizes them. The sources consulted do not name these sectors.
