Airbnb · Rosemère · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Rosemère, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
We found no municipal restriction on renting out a principal residence in Rosemère; no published rule places the tourist residence, the unit bought to be rented year-round. To buy, count on $845,000 for a house and $565,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). The city publishes little on the subject: have the rule for the zone of the address confirmed before any offer. Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

We found no restriction adopted by the city on renting out a principal residence. No municipal provision specific to principal residence establishments was found in zoning by-law 801 (updated June 2026), nor any public notice of restriction. In the absence of a municipal restriction, the provincial rule applies, but this point has not been confirmed by the City.
By default, Quebec law prevents a municipal by-law from prohibiting the rental of a principal residence unless it was adopted under the adapted referendum procedure (s. 23). Before counting on it, have the zone of the address confirmed by the planning department: it issues the zoning compliance document required for registration.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
We found no published municipal rule placing the tourist residence. Zoning by-law 801 has defined tourist residence since 2023 (by-law 801-61: an establishment other than a principal residence establishment, a furnished apartment, house or cottage, 31 days maximum per stay), but the zones where it is permitted were not found. The classification provides for a use “583 Accommodation establishment” authorized only in certain zones; the link between this code and tourist residence is not confirmed.
Without a zone that allows it, the city cannot issue the zoning compliance document, and without that document there is no registration. That is the first question to ask the planning department, address in hand.
