Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
Renting out your own principal residence short-term is allowed in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, but with limits; buying a unit to rent it on Airbnb year-round (tourist residence) is possible only in specific zones. To buy, count on $440,000 for a house at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

Tourist accommodation establishments in a principal residence are authorized as a complementary use in a detached single-family dwelling (only one complementary use per dwelling), provided they are at least 500 metres (as the crow flies, between lot lines) from any other legally operated tourist accommodation establishment and at least 20 metres from the lot lines; one parking space per bedroom is required.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
By-law 634-19 repealed tourist residence as an accessory use to single-family dwellings, and by-law 740-3 removed tourist residence from the conditional uses. The “tourist accommodation establishment in a vacation residence” (secondary residence) is now classified with hotels (use code 583), and is therefore permitted only in the zones where the grid authorizes this code; the sources consulted do not name these zones.
