In March 2023, the Municipality had tabled a draft by-law (no. 394) to exclude certain sectors of the village from short-term rental of a principal residence, but cancelled it on September 12, 2023, considering that it was not required to legislate under article 23 of the Tourist Accommodation Act; no municipal prohibition was found.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
According to zoning by-law 253, tourist residences are authorized only in the zones where the specifications book checks the special standard “tourist residence” (article 4.2.6.9 and article 15.8); the zones are not named in the text of the by-law.
