Airbnb · Terrebonne · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Terrebonne, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
Renting out your own principal residence short-term is allowed in Terrebonne, but with limits; no published rule places the tourist residence, the unit bought to be rented year-round. To buy, count on $599,000 for a house and $382,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

Terrebonne regulates the rental of the principal residence through its zoning by-law 1001 (by-law 1001-355, adopted after September 2022) and prohibits it zone by zone under the special procedure of article 23 of the Tourist Accommodation Act: the “principal residence establishment” use has been prohibited in zone 8961-95 (côte de Terrebonne south, 41e to 44e avenues and rue de Séville) since April 17, 2024; drafts also targeted zone 8861-91 (côte de Terrebonne, near rue de Plaisance) and zone 8961-74 (40e avenue sector).
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
We found no published municipal rule placing the tourist residence. By-law 1001-355 also regulates tourist residences, but the zones where they are permitted and the conditions were not found in an official source.
Without a zone that allows it, the city cannot issue the zoning compliance document, and without that document there is no registration. That is the first question to ask the planning department, address in hand.
