Renting out your own principal residence short-term is allowed in Val-David, but with limits; buying a unit to rent it on Airbnb year-round (tourist residence) is possible only in specific zones. To buy, count on $485,000 for a house at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

The accessory use “principal residence” (tourist accommodation) is authorized in all zones, but only on a lot occupied by a detached single-family dwelling, for a maximum of 30 rental days per year (consecutive or not), with no trailers or tents on the lot, no change to the appearance of the building and no sign.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
Tourist residence (code C502) is permitted only as a principal use for a grouping of furnished apartments, houses or cottages offered for rent; the specifications grid (consolidation February 2026) specifically authorizes it in zones EF-05, EF-07 and H-02. Elsewhere, no identified zone authorizes it.
