The exact category of the by-law in Mirabel, its conditions, the permit fee, and the checklist before buying or converting.
Intergenerational home in Mirabel in 2026: Mirabel speaks of a “supplementary dwelling”: one per home, detached or semi-detached single-family, in the basement, ground floor or upper floor, with no professional or commercial use. A single access on the façade, which must also give access to the main dwelling; a private access is possible on the façade only from the rear half of the building's depth, or on a rear or side wall, hidden by a fence or opaque screen of 2 m. Caregiver tax credit of $1,494 for a parent aged 70 or over who lives with you. Sources read on 16 September 2026.

Québec.ca (urban planning decision guide, “Logement intergénérationnel”, updated 31 August 2026): the zoning by-law may allow a single supplementary dwelling per main dwelling, intended for people in an established category who have, or have had, a family or marriage link with the main occupant, and the municipality sets the conditions of layout and occupancy, which may vary from one category of buildings to another. From 21 August 2024 to 21 August 2029, the Act to amend various legislative provisions respecting housing allows an accessory dwelling to be built by right in a detached single-family home located within the urban perimeter, outside places subject to public-safety constraints and outside heritage buildings, even if the zoning by-law does not allow it (summary published by the City of Terrebonne). The caregiver tax credit (caregiver tax credit of $1,494 for a person aged 70 or over who lives with you, and of $1,494 to $2,988 for an adult with an impairment living with you) and the GCR warranty on a new intergenerational build apply in Mirabel as elsewhere; our guide to the intergenerational home in Quebec compares the ten cities.
