Airbnb · Dollard-des-Ormeaux · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
We found no municipal restriction on renting out a principal residence in Dollard-des-Ormeaux; no published rule places the tourist residence, the unit bought to be rented year-round. To buy, count on $792,500 for a house and $460,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). The city publishes little on the subject: have the rule for the zone of the address confirmed before any offer. Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

We found no restriction adopted by the city on renting out a principal residence. The new zoning by-law R-2025-199 (adopted March 11, 2025, consolidation of August 7, 2026) and the by-law on permits and certificates R-2026-217 contain no provision naming the principal residence, the principal residence establishment or tourist rentals. Additional uses are permitted only where authorized in the zoning grid. No referendum procedure concerning the principal residence establishment was found; the provincial rule (s. 23 of the Tourist Accommodation Act) applies.
By default, Quebec law prevents a municipal by-law from prohibiting the rental of a principal residence unless it was adopted under the adapted referendum procedure (s. 23). Before counting on it, have the zone of the address confirmed by the planning department: it issues the zoning compliance document required for registration.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
We found no published municipal rule placing the tourist residence. The zoning does not name the tourist residence. The Accommodation subclass (C2-2), whose main activity is providing short-term accommodation, lists hotel, motel, inn and B&B “as well as similar and compatible uses”; it is a commercial use possible only in zones whose grid allows C2-2, zones not verified here.
Without a zone that allows it, the city cannot issue the zoning compliance document, and without that document there is no registration. That is the first question to ask the planning department, address in hand.
