Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Orford, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
Renting out your own principal residence short-term is allowed in Orford only in some zones; buying a unit to rent it on Airbnb year-round (tourist residence) is possible only in specific zones. To buy, count on $705,000 for a house and $400,000 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

Short-term rental (less than 32 days at a time) is permitted only in certain areas, mainly in the southern part of the territory; most areas in the north do not allow it. The zones where the principal residence establishment is allowed or prohibited appear on a plan published by the Municipality (January 2023). According to the press, the principal residence is permitted only where the tourist cottage is.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
The “tourist cottage” use is allowed only in the zones identified on the thematic map and in Schedules 1 and 3 of Zoning and Subdivision By-law 951. The press (2022) cites among the areas kept part of Jardin des sables, areas bordering chemin du Parc toward the ski resort, and 4 zones in Parc national du Mont-Orford; in Domaine Chéribourg, any new application is refused (only existing legal operators may continue).
