Airbnb · Pointe-Claire · 2026 rules
Can you rent out your principal residence on Airbnb in Pointe-Claire, and where is a unit bought for short-term rental allowed? The city's rules, checked against its by-laws on October 19, 2026, the Quebec framework and the purchase price of a house or condo according to Centris.
Renting out your own principal residence short-term is allowed in Pointe-Claire, but with limits; buying a unit to rent it on Airbnb year-round (tourist residence) is possible only in specific zones. To buy, count on $745,500 for a house and $583,750 for a condo at the 2026 median price (Centris). Rules checked on October 19, 2026.

Zoning by-law PC-2775 defines the principal residence tourist accommodation establishment (amendment PC-2775-74 of December 10, 2024) and prohibits operating it in an accessory dwelling unit or in an intergenerational dwelling unit. No other zone restriction targeting the principal residence was found in the by-law consolidated to August 22, 2025.
A unit that is not your principal residence, rented by the night or the week all year, is a "tourist residence". The law does not protect it: the city decides through its zoning where it is allowed.
The zoning does not name the “tourist residence”. Accommodation establishments form commercial class C: C-1 (hotels, motels, inns) and C-2 (tourist homes, bed and breakfasts and guest rooms). Tourist accommodation outside a principal residence therefore falls under a commercial use possible only in zones whose grid allows these classes, zones not listed here.
