The Municipality does not publish an average bill; it presents typical cases (e.g. unserviced residence assessed at $536,200 on the 2026-2028 roll: $3,075.44 in 2026, +0.78%; serviced residence at $414,700: $3,306.44, +3.92%).

| Rate per $100 of assessment | 2026 | 2025 | Rate change |
|---|---|---|---|
| General property tax, base residential rate | $0.3326 | $0.4685 | -29% |
Other rates: Special property taxes on all buildings, per $100: Sûreté du Québec $0.045378, working capital fund $0.007504, Matawinie RCM shares $0.025065. Non-residential rate $0.6190. Sector taxes according to loan by-laws.
Fixed fees: 2026 per built residential building or per dwelling: Sûreté du Québec $150; public works and infrastructure $418; waste collection and ecocentre $228.43 per dwelling; Connexion Matawinie (fibre) $13.61 per dwelling; biting insects $64.05 (1-dwelling homes and cottages). Water supply and sewer fees for serviced areas.
Careful with the lower rate. The rate drops 29% because the new roll raised assessments: the city adjusts the rate to collect its revenue. A lower rate after a new roll is not a tax cut.

New 2026-2027-2028 roll of the Matawinie RCM, in force on January 1, 2026 (value increases of about 15% to 60% depending on the sector).
The general property tax is calculated as: municipal assessment × rate ÷ 100. Example: a house assessed at $500,000 would pay $1,663 in general property tax at the 2026 rate of $0.3326. This is a sample calculation, not the actual bill: add the fees (water, waste collection), special taxes and, where applicable, sector taxes. The actual bill for an address is on the city's online assessment roll and on the seller's latest tax bill: ask for it before making an offer.
The school tax is not set by the city. Since 2020-2021, the rate is the same everywhere in Quebec: $0.07899 per $100 of standardized assessment for 2026-2027 ($0.08423 in 2025-2026), and the first $25,000 of value is exempt. It is calculated on the standardized value, which can differ from the roll value. Example: for a standardized value of $500,000, the 2026-2027 school tax would be about $375.
