Rénoclimat pays for insulation, air sealing, windows and ventilation, never the heat pump. Here are the guide's amounts line by line, the fees, the traps and the new flood stream of October 2026.
Rénoclimat, the Quebec government program run by the Ministère de l'Environnement, pays financial assistance for insulation (roof up to $1,500, exterior walls up to $3,750, foundations up to $2,500, exposed floor $380), air sealing ($400 to $800 depending on the blower-door test), replacement of ENERGY STAR doors and windows ($150 per rough opening), a heat recovery ventilator ($500) and a drain-water heat recovery unit ($120 or $180), up to $20,000 for a house and $40,000 for a duplex, triplex or multi-unit building, where insulation amounts are multiplied by the number of units (1.8 for 2 to 3 units, up to 8 for 17 and more). You must own a building of three storeys or less, inhabited for twelve months, and have the energy evaluation done before the work ($150 plus tax, refunded if aid is paid; the post-work visit is free). Heat pumps have not been eligible since May 1, 2024 (LogisVert covers them). From October 1, 2026, a climate-adaptation stream adds up to $35,000 to protect a home in an at-risk zone, with a combined maximum of $38,500.

For semi-detached and corner row houses, wall insulation amounts are reduced to 75%; for middle row houses, to 50%. A three-panel bay window or a patio door in one rough opening gets a single $150. The maximum is $20,000 per house and $40,000 per duplex, triplex or multi-unit building, cumulative over the life of the program.
In a building of 2 units or more (at most three storeys above ground and 600 m² of ground area), insulation amounts are multiplied: 1.8 for 2 to 3 units, 3.0 for 4 to 6, 5.0 for 7 to 9, 6.0 for 10 to 12, 7.0 for 13 to 16, 8.0 for 17 and more. A triplex insulating its attic from R-12 to R-50 gets $1,500 × 1.8 = $2,700. Doors, windows and air sealing stay at house amounts; mechanical systems count one unit per dwelling (four HRVs in a fourplex: $2,000).
The pre-work visit costs $150 plus tax, refunded ($150) if aid is paid and the EnerGuide rating improved; the post-work visit is free; a later visit or a new model costs $150 plus tax. Cancelling within 24 hours can cost $25, a wasted trip $75. The sequence: registration (1 866 266-0008 or quebec.ca/renoclimat), pre-work evaluation with blower-door test (about two hours), report and recommendations, work, post-work evaluation, payment. Work done before the first evaluation is not eligible: that is trap number one.
Electronic thermostats, air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and geothermal (withdrawn from Rénoclimat May 1, 2024: see LogisVert), extensions, insulation of a garage or veranda outside the heated volume, electrical panel, garage doors and windows, roofing or siding, and any measure that does not improve energy efficiency. The extended part of a house is subtracted from the aid calculation.
Announced June 8, 2026 with a $425 million budget over five years, this stream adds three types of aid from October 1, 2026: $700 to $1,000 for simple pre-set work (sump pump, backwater valve, removable flood barrier), up to $1,000 for a climate-risk diagnosis by a recognized professional, and up to $35,000 for complex adaptation work in identified at-risk zones (foundation protection, waterproofing, relocating electrical, heating and plumbing systems), covering up to 75% of eligible costs. Total Rénoclimat aid, energy and adaptation, is capped at $38,500 per home. Owners in the flood zones of the Rivière des Mille Îles, the Richelieu, the Châteauguay or the Ottawa River are the first concerned.
