Neighbourhood guide · Longueuil

What it is like to live in Longueuil day to day: neighbourhoods, access, parks, schools and prices, written by a team that sells there all year, in English.

Longueuil is a city of three boroughs that do not look alike: Old Longueuil, with Saint-Charles Street, its heritage houses and a university campus; Saint-Hubert, the largest and most family-oriented, around its airport and its park; Greenfield Park, the smallest, with Charles-Le Moyne Hospital and a fabric of bungalows and co-owned houses. It is the South Shore's central city, the only one with a metro. In Q2 2026, the median single-family home in the Old Longueuil sector sold for $623,000 in 21 days (APCIQ).

The character of Longueuil

Longueuil is a city of three boroughs that do not look alike: Old Longueuil, with Saint-Charles Street, its heritage houses and a university campus; Saint-Hubert, the largest and most family-oriented, around its airport and its park; Greenfield Park, the smallest, with Charles-Le Moyne Hospital and a fabric of bungalows and co-owned houses. It is the South Shore's central city, the only one with a metro.

The neighbourhoods, and what sets them apart

In Old Longueuil, prices rise as you approach Saint-Charles Street and the river. Saint-Hubert reads by decade: 1960s neighbourhoods near Route 116, 1980s and 1990s ones toward Highway 30. Greenfield Park mostly compares with itself, with a compact housing stock around the hospital.

Getting around

The Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro reaches downtown in one stop; the RTL bus terminal concentrates the South Shore lines there. The Saint-Hubert exo train station serves the Saint-Hilaire line. The Jacques-Cartier Bridge, Route 132 and Highway 20 complete the access.

Parks, leisure and shopping

Michel-Chartrand Park is the South Shore's great urban park, with trails and deer; Parc de la Cité, in Saint-Hubert, adds a lake and paths. The riverfront can be cycled from Old Longueuil.

Schools and services

CEGEP Édouard-Montpetit and the École nationale d'aérotechnique (in Saint-Hubert), as well as the Université de Sherbrooke's Longueuil campus, make the city a higher-education hub. French network: Centre de services scolaire Marie-Victorin; English: Riverside. Charles-Le Moyne Hospital is in Greenfield Park.
