Comparison · Vaudreuil-Dorion vs Pointe-Claire · 2026
The bridge is worth $215,000: here is how to decide between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pointe-Claire by commute, budget and profile.
Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pointe-Claire are on the same train line and the same Highway 20, on either side of the Île-aux-Tourtes or Galipeault bridge, and $215,500 separate them: a $604,500 median house in Vaudreuil-Dorion in the second quarter of 2026 (+5 % year over year, +27 % in five years) in 39 days, against $820,000 in the southern West Island (Pointe-Claire, Dorval, Beaconsfield, Kirkland; -2 %, +13 % in five years) in 38 days. The condo too: $381,000 vs $517,500. For $215,000 less, Vaudreuil-Dorion offers the new home with a garage; for $215,000 more, Pointe-Claire offers the island, Lac Saint-Louis, the Village, Fairview, the Lakeshore hospital and the future REM station. The question is the bridge: cross it every day, or live on the Montreal side.
Pointe-Claire is $215,500 more expensive in median ($820,000 vs $604,500) because it is on the island, on the lake, and because Beaconsfield and Kirkland, in the same sector, weigh upward; but it rose only 13 % in five years, the region's weakest rise, and fell 2 % year over year, while Vaudreuil-Dorion rose 27 % in five years and 5 % in a year. The gap is closing slowly. The condo follows the same logic: $381,000 in Vaudreuil-Dorion (119 listings), $517,500 in Pointe-Claire (211 listings, +53 %, in towers near the 20).
